Make your vote count the most
You can have the best arguments, but ultimately it comes down to the numbers when legislation is up for a vote. This is why the Pyne bills were withdrawn ahead of certain defeat. It is critical to have pro-life MPs who in turn will vote pro-life in the Queensland parliament. If there is only one important thing you can help ensure, this is it.
Just before the 2012 election, the Bligh government was planning to completely decriminalise abortion per the Victorian model. What stopped them? Being one vote short. This in turn meant that efforts at the previous election, resulting the 2009 defeat of pro-abortion MP Bonnie Barry (who promptly blamed the pro-lifers in her election night TV interview), in turn saved untold numbers of babies.
This 2017 election is our chance to have a real and lasting impact for the next term of government. You don't have to reinvent the wheel, just tip the balance.
It's so easy to make a real difference, and it's well worth getting involved. Register here to volunteer.
First, be prepared to change the way you vote in order to elect solidly pro-life MPs. This matters regardless of party as life issues will go to a conscience vote.
Second, volunteer to letterbox flyers in your area, informing locals of candidate attitudes to abortion. People really do want to know. This can make 1.5% to 3% difference in votes.
Third, help out on election day with handing out "how to vote" cards for your pro-life candidate. It's an enjoyable time and doing this can affect the election outcome by up to 4% at each polling location ... which is enough to get a new candidate elected.

What happened in Victoria in 2008 is precisely what we must avoid. Believe it or not, abortions in Victoria are completely legal — for any reason — up to and including the day of birth. Yes, even partial-birth abortions are legal in Victoria.
